ANA applauds the passage of the Improving Access to Workers’ Compensation for Injured Federal Workers Act of 2022 in the House of Representatives, which recognizes the importance of access to quality and safe patient care provided by Nurse Practitioners (NPs) in all settings and is an important step toward eliminating unnecessary federal barriers to nurses. 

A mass shooting at Saint Francis Hospital campus in Tulsa, OK on June 1 that left four people dead, including multiple health care professionals, is the latest act of gun violence in a recent uptick of mass shootings nationwide. The following statement is attributable to American Nurses Association (ANA) President Ernest Grant, PhD, RN, FAAN:

The American Nurses Association (ANA) applauds the recommendations laid out in the Surgeon General’s Advisory Addressing Health Worker Burnout to provide accessible mental health resources, adequate staffing, and safer work environments for health care professionals, including nurses.

ANA stands in solidarity with the individuals, families and communities impacted and calls for meaningful action now to address this tragic, ever-growing epidemic of gun violence.  

American Nurses Foundation awards $14 million over three years through its Reimagining Nursing Initiative to projects impacting 20 states.
