SILVER SPRING, MD – The American Nurses Association (ANA) is excited to announce the launch of the Nurses Action Society (NAS), a new initiative designed to empower the association’s members to engage with federal officials and advance the public policy priorities of the nursing profession. This program aims to ensure that nurses have a strong voice in the legislative process, influencing policies that impact the nursing community and health care at large.
NAS will equip nursing advocates with the tools, resources, and exclusive opportunities needed to become effective nurse advocates. As NAS Ambassadors, members will gain access to a wealth of educational content, including webinars, videos, and training sessions, to deepen their understanding of the association’s public policy priorities. Additionally, Ambassadors will have the chance to represent the nursing profession in meetings with policymakers and health care stakeholders, fostering meaningful relationships to drive positive policy changes.
In addition to educational content, NAS Ambassadors will enjoy exclusive networking events and opportunities throughout the year to connect with peers and collaborate on advocacy initiatives. The association encourages its members nationwide to take the NAS survey and join their peers in advocating for the nursing profession.
As part of the NAS launch, the association invites all members and allies to participate in a webinar on November 13, titled The 2024 Election’s Impact on Health Policy and How Nurses Can Help Advance Nursing Priorities. This virtual event, scheduled from 6:30 – 7:30 pm EST, will explore how nurses can influence health policy during this pivotal election cycle.
The webinar will feature insights from prominent health policy experts:
- Rodney Whitlock, PhD, Vice President at McDermott+ with over 25 years of experience in health policy, who has played a key role in shaping landmark health care legislation.
