IMD Members,

My message to you must start off with a thank you! Thank you to all of you for caring, serving, and being the foundation of healthcare! We are living in a time of profound healthcare reform at local, state, and national levels. Also, the last couple years have placed nurses at the forefront of one of the most impactful events in modern history: a global pandemic.

Though we all know nurses have always been integral to healthcare for our nation: from administration to bedside to corporate. IMD members number more than 5,000 nurses from various practice settings and roles including staff nurses, advanced practice nurses, educators, researchers, and leaders. Our membership ranks as the fourth highest of the constituent and state associations. As elected leaders of the IMD Executive Committee, we are here to represent, support, and serve as the voice of the IMD constituency.

The Individual Member Division was launched almost twenty years ago at American Nurses Association’s House of Delegates, now called Membership Assembly. The division exists to support participation in the governance of the IMD and ANA, as well as the programmatic work of ANA. Now more than ever we are needed to fulfill the mission of ANA, which is to “lead the profession to shape the future of nursing and health care.”

Together we are poised to lead change in healthcare, improve quality of care, ensure safe working environments, and advocate for choice in care for all who need it. I look forward to continuing the work the IMD has been engaged in over the past few years and look forward to representing your voice in the years ahead!
