Economic Value of Nursing

The ANA Enterprise Institute for Nursing Research and Quality Management is leading the Economic Value of Nursing Research Project, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at redefining how nursing is perceived within the global healthcare economy. This project seeks to shift the view of nursing from a labor cost to a revenue-generating force by highlighting nurses as essential caregivers and strategic assets. Over a two-year study, the project will develop a conceptual model that defines the economic value of nursing, conduct a systematic review of related studies, and validate this model with input from diverse researchers. The ultimate goal is to demonstrate how investments in the nursing workforce contribute to improved patient outcomes and financial sustainability in healthcare systems worldwide.
