Emergency Cardiac Drugs: Essential Facts for Med-surg Nurses. In the hospital setting, emergencies typically occur in emergency departments (EDs) and intensive care units (ICUs). But many also take place in progressive care units or general nursing units. And when they do, they can cause marked anxiety for nurses—especially those unfamiliar or inexperienced with the drugs used in these emergencies. This CE module, featured in the July/August 2010 issue of American Nurse Today, will help med-surg nurses understand drugs used to manage emergencies involving acute coronary syndrome, bradycardia, and tachycardia. 1.6 contact hours and 1.6 Pharmacology Hours will be awarded to nurses who successfully complete this CNE activity.
