This note is your CALL TO ACTION! The 2010 Legislative Session began this week and we have a bill, HB 2447, revising ARNP practice. You will find a copy of a bill brief that summarizes the contents in two pages on this web site.

What can you do to help? Many have told us they are willing to help and here are several possible ways:

  1. Contact your physicians and patients to garner their support. We have developed talking points specific for patients and physicians with key points to present them, along with the copy of the bill brief. We have also developed a sample letter that should be personalized. It can be sent to KSNA and we will forward to legislators and presented in testimony at various hearings.
  2. Get your physicians to write a letter of support. We have developed a sample letter that should be personalized. It can be sent to KSNA and we will forward to legislators and presented in testimony at various hearings.
  3. Ask your patients to write a letter of support. We have developed a sample letter that should be personalized. It can be sent to KSNA and we will forward to legislators and presented in testimony at various hearings.
  4. Contact your legislator directly by phone, email or fax. If you have a personal relationship with your legislator, talking directly to them will be key. Express your support of this bill and inform them with the Bill Brief attached.
  5. Contact your area pharmacists and ask them to write a letter of support. We have developed a sample letter that should be personalized. It can be sent to KSNA and we will forward to legislators and presented in testimony at various hearings.
  6. Get your fellow ARNP’s (soon to be APRNs) to write letters of support. We have developed a sample letter that should be personalized. It can be sent to KSNA and we will forward to legislators and presented in testimony at various hearings.
