The American Nurses Association call for applications for the Nursing Scope and Standards Revision Workgroup and an associated Nursing Scope and Standards Revision Advisory Workgroup to undertake the review and revision of the 2010 Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice - IS CLOSED. Thank you to all who submitted their applications.

The Workgroup will meet two times per month via two-hour conference calls and via e-mail starting in early 2014. The Advisory Workgroup will dialogue electronically and may also be invited to participate in one or two conference calls in 2014.

For planning purposes, this work effort and required personal commitment are projected to last 12-18 months. Workgroup members will be expected to attend and contribute during scheduled biweekly conference call meetings, engage in additional small group discussions and writing assignments, and review and comment about reference materials and draft workgroup documents. ANA is seeking registered nurses and advanced practice registered nurses from diverse educational backgrounds, practice settings, specialties, and geographic locations. Nurses at all stages in their professional career are invited to consider actively contributing in the development of this foundational document that is read and referenced by very diverse stakeholders, such as healthcare consumers, boards of nursing, faculty, certification program content expert panels, lawyers, and legislators.

Electronic applications for the Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice Revision Workgroup were accepted from January 6, 2014 through January 31, 2014. All applicants will be accepted for either Workgroup or Advisory Workgroup positions. Notification via email will occur by mid April 2014.

All registered nurse applicants must be either an ANA member OR a member of one of ANA’s two Premier Organizational Affiliates (Association of periOperative Registered Nurses and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association).
