CNPE Position Statement Review: Supporting NPs in Retail-based Health Clinics
05/12/09
The American Nurses Association (ANA) Congress on Nursing Practice and Economics (CNPE) is seeking comments on the following position statement:
Additional Access to Care: Supporting Nurse Practitioners in Retail-based Health Clinics ~ which states: ANA supports the delivery of primary care and other health care services by nurse practitioners (NPs) in all settings, including retail-based health clinics. Peer-reviewed studies continue to add evidence confirming that NPs offer high quality care in the primary care setting. In addition to their education and expertise in diagnosis and treatment, NPs’ proficiency in providing health education and prevention services makes them skilled managers and service providers in retail-based clinics. Retail-based clinics provide an additional innovative entry point for patients to access affordable, high-quality health care, thus helping to address some of the health care system’s more pressing problems.
If you are interested in participating in this review, download the Position Statement below and provide your comments to ANA staff member Cynthia Haney at Cynthia.Haney@ana.org by 5:00pm EDT on July 15, 2009.
CNPE appreciates your assistance with reviewing this Position Statement.
