Nationwide, nurses are helping people sign up for health insurance coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace
, as well as educating patients, their communities and their health care colleagues about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and key resources, like healthcare.gov
However, more needs to be done to raise awareness as the March 31 open enrollment deadline quickly approaches.
If you live in Arizona, Texas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania or New Jersey and would like to promote enrollment in your community, the Get Covered America campaign needs you! Get Covered is hosting a national training weekend of action, Feb. 22-23, to bring together volunteers and partner organizations engaged in outreach to the uninsured.
These trainings will help volunteers develop outreach skills and action steps. Different trainings will be available based upon each volunteer's level of understanding and engagement to date with outreach and Health Insurance Marketplace enrollment.
Get Covered America helps people learn how to enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace, get answers to common questions, determine the estimated monthly cost of insurance using the Get Covered Calculator, view short videos explaining the ACA, review a glossary of insurance terms, find someone who will help them to enroll, and more
