Ensuring that nurses play a central role in the application of genomics to clinical care is at the core of the 2013 Genomics Special Issue of the Journal of Nursing Scholarship
. The Issue explores genomic variation and its clinical implications for common diseases in pediatric and adult patients such as cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome and cancer with the implications for nursing practice. Highlights include the genomics of common health conditions, emerging genomic science and technology, and the ethical, legal, social and nursing research issues associated with the translation of genomics into healthcare.
