Mary Behrens

Former ANA-PAC Chair Mary Behrens, RN, MS, FNP-BC, recently received one of two 2012 International Humanitarian Awards during the second annual American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) Foundation Honors Dinner. Behrens, a member of the Wyoming Nurses Association, was recognized for her work in establishing a well-designed and sustainable education pathway for nurses in Vietnam. The Honors Dinner was held in conjunction with the national AANP conference in Orlando earlier this summer.

Faye Annette Gary

In July, Faye A. Gary, EdD, RN, FAAN, received the National Black Nurses Association’s (NBNA) Lifetime Achievement Award during the organization’s 40th Annual Institute and Conference in Orlando. Gary, a member of the Florida Nurses Association, is the executive program consultant and director of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) at ANA. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes ongoing excellence and significant achievements in the nursing profession. Gary has been involved with research concerning vulnerable populations for more than three decades.
