The American Nurses Association (ANA) is very excited to announce a video contest around the theme “I am a Nurse, I am a Leader.” As our nation undertakes transformative health care reform, nurses have unprecedented opportunities to optimize their practice, drive change and shape the health care system of the future.
Put more simply, it’s about leadership. Many nurses have insights and examples of leadership to share that will inform and inspire others. We want to hear from nurses about what leadership means to them and how they are living it. It’s a great opportunity to showcase the work that nurses do – for example -- how you work to improve health literacy in your community, mentor a fellow nurse, implement a best practice in the workplace, or advocate for a healthy environment.
The importance of leadership is something ANA and its members have understood and demonstrated for years! Now we are challenging you to share what “I am a Nurse, I am a Leader” means via a video (no more than two minutes long). ANA is inviting all RNs and nursing students to submit a video by May 8, 2011. An ANA panel will select five finalists. Then, the nursing community will be asked to vote on their favorite from May 10-17 to select our winner.
The five finalists will each receive $250 and the winner will win $1000! All entrants will receive a “I am a Nurse, I am a Leader” t-shirt.
