Announcing the 36th American Academy of Nursing Annual Meeting and Conference, “Creating An Agenda for a Healthy Society”, November 5-7, 2009 in Atlanta, GA. This meeting is a wonderful opportunity to learn about and share ideas related to the emerging health care reform and the role of nursing. This year, to elicit input and make the conference more interactive, a process has been designed for this year’s meeting which will enable you to work directly with your colleagues to recommend the future direction of the Academy’s work.

The Academy is honored to develop a program that includes notable colleagues: Corinne Rieder, EdD, Executive Director and Treasurer, The John A. Hartford Foundation, Kenneth Thorpe, PhD, Robert E. Woodruff Professor and Chair, Department of Health Policy and Management, Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University and Executive Director, Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease, and David Satcher, MD, PhD, 16th Surgeon General of the United States and Director of The Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine. Also featured will be an exciting presentation of the Academy’s Raise the Voice Campaign Edge Runners who will address their innovative approaches to health care delivery. This year’s Edge Runner Panel will focus on policy and breakthrough issues influenced by nursing as a cornerstone of health care reform.

They invite you and your colleagues to join them for this important event. Whether you are a Fellow, Inductee, or Health Care/Academic Leader who wants to connect with other national and international leaders, they believe you will find this a stimulating meeting that will broaden your professional horizons and help you expand your contacts in nursing and health care. They look forward to your involvement in this work and seeing you in Atlanta!
