115th Congress Gets to Work – Sign the Nurses’ Promise

ANA Government Affairs staff were on Capitol Hill to welcome members of the new Congress on January 3. Intense discussions are underway in both parties to determine the future of the Affordable Care Act.

In December, we delivered a letter to President-elect Trump outlining ANA’s Principles for Health System Transformation.  To date, thousands of nurses have signed the Nurses’ Promise to hold politicians of on both sides of the aisle accountable for putting patients first, and nearly 2,000 nurses have expressed a desire to meet with their elected representatives. Democrats have slated January 15 as a national “Our First Stand: Save Health Care” day of action, with rallies planned in several cities.

ANA has also been actively engaged in providing input to key Senate Committee staff in preparation for   Rep. Tom Price’s confirmation hearings for Secretary of Health and Human Services. ANA’s intent is to have him go on record about key issues of importance to nursing.
