RESPONSIBILITIES: To provide independent, content expertise and analysis for the Magnet Recognition Program® as an analyst to applicants, commissioners, appraisers, Magnet organizations, Magnet Program and the ANCC office staff. Interfaces with over 240 Magnet program appraisers, coordinating and managing the appraisal process. Interfaces with representatives from the international community, providing guidance and interpretative analysis related to the eligibility and requirements for Magnet recognition. Collaborates with the eleven members of the Commission on Magnet. Provides independent analysis, expert guidance, and creative problem solving to organizations related to the application of the Forces of Magnetism, addressing unique organizational and nursing situations. Represents the Magnet Recognition Program® and ANCC at a variety of official functions, including out-of-town and overnight functions. Provides professionally prepared written and verbal reports for the Director, Magnet Recognition Program®, Commission on Magnet, departmental and committee meetings and professional conferences. Develops, synthesizes, analyzes, interprets, and provides recommendations on data for official presentation to decision-makers, including the ANCC research council. Works closely with Outcomes Analyst to design database formats and performs quality checks to ensure the accuracy of statistical information in databases. Monitors quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of all aspects of Magnet operations and identifies quality assurance opportunities for improvement. Coordinates appeal process ensuring all legal and ethical issues are addressed as appropriate. Acts as a liaison between the Magnet Recognition Program® and other ANCC or ANA committees or task forces. Creates and continuously evaluates systems for tracking and facilitating the Magnet application process. Directs work flow of specialists and administrative staff within operations division to ensure priorities and application processes are maintained. Initiates, maintains, and serves as the project leader for multiple initiatives to improve the Magnet Recognition Program while coordinating efforts with Magnet staff, organizations, and volunteers. Represents ANCC and the Magnet Recognition Program at meetings with commissioners, boards, volunteer groups, professional associations and other groups.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: RN required; Masters Degree required in nursing, administration, business, or education. If Master’s is not in nursing then baccalaureate must be in nursing. Minimum 8 years of progressive leadership experience involving project management, progressive upper management in a health related organization or hospital. Skillful communicator. Diverse health care experience preferred. Progressive experience in coordination of projects with multiple complexity and concurrent task coordination requiring attention to detail. Strong management, team building, and project leadership skills. Work independently, multi-task under pressure, prioritize effectively, take initiative and be innovative. Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills. Must be proficient in all Microsoft office products and databases, ACCESS, Project Manager, Crystal Reports, and other software. Articulate verbal communication and poise in presenting complex topics to prestigious leadership groups, at national conferences and other formats using many formats: powerpoint, webcast, IM, and panels. Superior writing and meticulous editing skills required. Superior customer service and teamwork skills and abilities. Discretion in managing confidential information.
