RESPONSIBILITIES: To provide field services and consultation to constituent member associations. To implement ANA goals through the development, analysis and evaluation of policies and programs as they relate to economic and general welfare of registered nurses with special emphasis on their health and safety. Systematically identifies and analyzes the research, policy, and workplace trends in the field of occupational and environmental health as it impacts nurses in the workplace and uses this information to make recommendations for program and policy development. Disseminates association policy, materials, and products to officials, CMAs and other appropriate organizations through written reports and public speaking engagements on behalf of ANA. Promotes, develops, and maintains liaison relationships with external nursing/health care and occupational health and safety organizations whose concerns relate to the goals and objectives of the association. Provides staff support, including researching, analyzing, and preparing reports and background information related to the health and safety of nurses for the, Congress on Practice and Economics and ANA Board of Directors. Conceives, designs, advises, and assists with the development of research projects and grant proposals and applications related to occupational health and safety. Assumes other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Baccalaureate required. Master's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Public Health Nursing or related field preferred. Licensure as a Registered Nurse (preferred). Five to ten years of relevant experience in nursing, environmental health or occupational health and safety in a healthcare setting. Experience in progressively complex positions, requiring project management related to health and safety, environmental health and/or policy development. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to analyze complex situations and function with minimal supervision. Skill in forecasting and providing consultation. Experience working with volunteers desirable; demonstrated competency in writing reports; evidence of good verbal skills; effective in providing consultation; and ability to work with multiple, complex projects simultaneously. Position requires travel.
