RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide leadership and management for the overall direction, planning, coordination, and evaluation of grant development opportunities for the American Nurses Association (ANA) and related entities. Reviews ANA needs and priorities and collaborates with leadership and staff to identify and actively pursue grant funding opportunities. Develops, recommends, and implements policies and procedures related to grant application, management, and evaluation. Writes proposals, manages project requirements and submits timely and accurate reports.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred.Minimum of six years experience with grants management. Proven track record of developing, writing and managing grant proposals to foundations, corporate, government and other sources. Program development and management experience preferred. Previous experience with non-profit fundraising. Previous experience with financial issues related to grants, Institutional Review Board, and managing conflict of interest issues. Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and conduct web based literature and data searches thru PubMed and other sources. Demonstrated ability to develop and monitor financial aspects including cost/effort ratio, and calculating indirect costs. Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills. Strong project management skills. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to quickly and effectively gather information by means of interviews, databases, research, etc. Excellent judgment, decision making, and discretion in regard to work with sensitive and confidential information. Demonstrates initiative in identifying and pursuing new grant funding sources. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work both collaboratively and independently. Ability to organize information for effective presentation in publications, web sites, and other media. Ability to develop, package and produce editorial content for web sites. Ability to produce high-quality work on deadline. Commitment to the highest standards of customer service and professionalism. Knowledge of all aspects of raising support from foundations, corporations, and government sources requiring proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects. Proven track record in cultivating individual and institutional donors .Knowledge of basic fundraising sources, techniques and strategies.
