POSITION TITLE: Magnet Program Specialist
DEPARTMENT: ANCC-Magnet Programs

RESPONSIBILITIES: To provide independent logistical support for the Magnet Recognition Program® to applicants, commissioners, appraisers, Magnet organizations, and Magnet Program office staff. To serve as a key point of contact for anyone requesting information about the Magnet Recognition Program®. Serves as a resource expert with extensive knowledge of the Magnet Recognition Program®. Coordinates the activities of and monitors up to 90 organizations at various stages of the Magnet application process. Contributes to the resolution of complex problems. Uses critical thinking skills to foresee potential conflicts with appraiser assignments and offers suggestions for intervention. Communicates with various departments within ANA/ANCC and various agencies outside of ANA/ANCC to facilitate the application process. Represents the Magnet Recognition Program® at various national conferences, presentations to the ANCC and ANA boards, new hires, special interest groups, etc. Coordinates schedules and tracks multiple nurse executive schedules. Accurately prepares reports, dashboard data, database entry, process timelines, tracks key data points and provides initial analysis and recommendations to Senior Analyst. Performs information management functions to compose and distribute information relevant to the program. Updates organizational files for over 250 applications. Receives and collates all public comment for applicant site visits. Ensures accurate data entry and presentation of outcome statistics for the Commission on Magnet and the ANCC Board of Directors. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Five years in a position with multiple complexities and concurrent task coordination. Ability to work independently as well as with a team. Ability to coordinate and follow through on several applications concurrently which are in various stages of the application process. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to maintain the strict time line of schedules outlined for the application process. Ability to think critically and problem solve. Ability to express ideas concisely in both oral and written form. Editorial and grammatical accuracy are mandatory. Ability to interact fluently with ANA members, high level professionals, national leaders, international leaders, and the public. Ability to maintain computerized files and a database is mandatory. Ability to skillfully operate software within the Microsoft Office Suite. Must be able to travel for several days (including overnights) per year. Travel by air may be required.
