Susan M. Howard, MSN, RN
I joined ANA because all of the nurses that I looked up to in our community were ANA members. I am the Clinical Education Supervisor at my hospital, and ANA has made a difference in my workplace in so many ways. The Handle With Care program of safe handling procedures has had the greatest impact; we use it in both our hospital and long term care facility. We have also used the delegation booklet for staff education and the lateral violence pocket cards. Many of the ANA brochures and journals have changed and improved the care I provide to patients. I also enjoy the regular state wide conferences, and have attended HOD. I wanted to be a member of my professional association, but the powerful influence that ANA has on all nurses and on health care policy still amazes me. I am proud to be a part of that.
