I joined ANA because my nursing instructors emphasized the need for all nurses to take part in our professional organizations.  ANA has made a significant difference in my nursing career as well as in my workplace. Their no-lift initiative has helped to implement increased safety measures during all lifts and transports.  They have played a significant part in the passage of legislation on mandatory overtime and nurse-patient ratios, legislation that provides safe and improved working conditions for nurses. ANA represents all nurses’ concerns. I believe it is of the utmost importance to be active in professional organizations, to promote nursing excellence and allow our voices to be heard.
