Preserving the Safety Net

The American Nurses Association (ANA) remains committed to ensuring access to high quality, affordable care for all. We recognize that our nation’s vital safety-net programs—Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, need attention and updating to remain viable for future generations, however, we are keenly aware of their importance in the lives and health of our patients and our members.

For this reason, ANA is asking lawmakers to oppose budget proposals that would lead to drastic cuts in these programs. Earlier this month, ANA sent letters to lawmakers in the House and Senate highlighting the devastating impact severe budget cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security would have on those who rely on these programs.
